The sketchbooks are where everything begins. They hold quick studies, notes, and false starts made wherever I happen to be, and they are the most honest record of how I see.
Keeping them daily means the drawing never goes cold, and ideas that later become finished work almost always appear here first.
Observation · Ongoing
Short studies made directly from life, whether a face, a tree, or whatever is on the table. They are not meant to be resolved; they are practice in seeing accurately and quickly.
This is the discipline that keeps the larger work grounded, and it feeds every series on the site.
Method · Ongoing
Notes on how the work is made, from gathering reference photographs to choosing a medium to suit a subject. Some pieces begin outdoors and finish in the studio; others are made in a single sitting.
Keeping track of the method helps me repeat what works and understand what does not.
